Caitlin & Gregg Dorn's Wedding Reception

Friday Char called saying they decided they could come to Gregg's
wedding reception & if they could stay with us. They arrived Friday
evening around 5:30 p.m. so we got to spend some time with them
catching up & visiting friday evening & saturday. We all went to the
temple for the sealing which was at 11:15 a.m. We ran into our former friends & Stake President Bill & LuAnn Monahan. Their son Wesley was getting married
the same day. So there we were in the Chapel with their family group
and another family group. We saw all their kids grown up now & get
this, Amber gave me a compliment saying I didn't look a day older than
when she last saw me!!!! How many years has that been now?? Twelve!
She got big-time brownie points & made my day of course!! Also ran
into our Primary President & Kelly ran into former Bishop Steve
Smith who lost his wife at a young age to colon cancer. He's met
someone & remarried now. Someone he knew from working with in the
church who's husband died suddenly at a rather young age. He's the
Bishop of a singles ward now & really enjoys it, says it's much easier
to handle than a full ward. Great to visit with him.
The sealings are of course always so special & a reminder of our
wedding days & the special promises & blessings reviewed there. Always
great to be in the temple & see the young family members coming up
being sealed in the Holy Temple.
Caitlin's family was having an only immediate family luncheon at her
Mom's home so the rest of us decided upon having a get together luncheon
at Sweet Tomatoes on Southern, It was kinda on the way home. Good visiting had by all.
The reception hall was beautifully decorated with a ceiling of drapped white material & strings of little white lights alternated. Caitlyn's colors were, Gold
Black & Sage green. Randi Cluff made her cake & decorated it with Kiwi
fruit, that was a new for Randi, it was to bring out the Sage green color accent
in her decor.
Kyle Cluff was the M.C. & of course a fun part was he put on some music
and he & Ashley challenged each other to dance their famous "Swing"
together minus the over the top part! They had a fun time & put on a show
for us. Ashley dancing in some white stilettos she was wearing, don't know how she managed that
in those heels, but she did!! They did slow down a bit after awhile saying they
were'nt in quite as good shape as they used to be. Ha! Ha! Emmery had
a hard time understanding what was going on & kept wanting her mommy!!
And of course their were the,now traditional, "banditos" that took the bride hostage! I
think they get a little to trigger happy though, one or two or three shots would
be fine not a dozen. They scare people!!! I always cross my fingers that no-one has a
heart attack or that their isn't an undercover cop in the audience!!!! Who
thinks it's the real thing!!!
Caitlyn & Gregg are going to B.Y.U. after they get back from their honeymoon.
They both applied to B.Y.U. & A.S.U. & she got accepted to B.Y.U. & he got
accepted to A.S.U. So they decided to go to Utah where she's accepted into
their music program & Gregg is going to go to a local college up there until he can transfer to B.Y.U. Between the visiting & my crazy camera I only got two
not to very good pictures. One is of all the cousins present. Great weekend!

Tanner Gothard's 8th Grade Graduation

Can you believe it? Tanner's going to be a freshman in High School
next year! Where does time go? Monday morning we arrived early at
Julie's home & I caught a couple of pictures of Tatum with her newest
tricks. She can scoot now & obtain items placed aways infront of her &
push up like a stinkbug and wiggle-roll right out of her car seat if she's
not belted in. She's a spry one for being so little!
At 9:00 a.m.
we attended Tanner's Graduation from 8th grade in Goodyear. There were 109
students in his graduating class. He said he was the only member
of our church in his class. He's a little (alot) dissapointed because his best
friend is moving to California. Their dad's also were good friends growing
up. So Things change.
The school only alots a few tickets per family &
hold it inside the school auditorium. In Laveen we were used to holding it
in the evenings & outdoors under those huge trees. Anyway JoAnn & I represented the
two extended families & our hurrah's to Tanner on his special day!!
Hey, I noticed JoAnn & I unknowingly wore their school colors!! Ha!
Ha! Good intuition!! Afterwards we celebrated by going out to lunch
at Macayo's on Litchfield Rd. I've never been to that one! It's kinda
hidden in there. Well here's wishing Tanner great success in his
continuing education!!!! Hurray for you Tanner!! Good luck!
On another note, Trinity invited me to her baptism in December!
I hadn't picked up on that one yet so I guess I'm not operating as
far in the future as I usually am! Looking forward to it Trinity!!

Baby Emma's First Week on Earth!

I had fun helping & spending time with Michelle & her family & of
course holding baby Emma this last week. Brylee & Jathen love
their new baby sister & keep taking turns holding her. Brylee always
wants to give her one more kiss, so she's very much loved!! You can
"play hair" with this baby, she has plenty of it. "Play hair" is the term
Kelly's aunt Cathy in Utah & her daughters use when daughters come
to visit. A couple of times while we were there & we were all visiting in the Living Room they would have fun taking
turns "playing hair"!!!! Just brushing, braiding & playing around with
the hair, it's sort-of a massage thing I guess it feels good!!! I got a kick
out of watching them. It's cute, some traditions families have!

Here's a tip for any new mom wanting to get some extra sleep! Julie
discovered it with Tatum. While she was in her crib or bassinet Tatum
just kept twisting & turning & fussing & waking up & one night Julie
put her in the baby carrier & she slept along while!! So...Michelle
tried it with baby Emma the first week home & she slept for 5 hrs. in
a row!!! That's great for a new born! One feels a bit funny putting them
in there, but I say if it works do it!! I guess they feel a little more snug there,
like they were in Mommy's tummy.

Michelle & I even ventured out with the baby for a first shopping spree
at the Motherhood shop at Tempe Town Market! Baby slept the whole
time. Brylee & Jathen have a nice new above ground swimming pool
& are registered for summer school for three weeks in the mornings
starting June first. So.... that will give Michelle some recoop time with
the baby & everything is good!!! Except, I didn't get many good pictures,
we always seemed to busy & these were sorta quick shots, will get more
later.
